A powerful voice for kids and communities!

Southwest Key Programs is a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Austin, Texas. We were founded in 1987 by our current Presidente and CEO Dr. Juan Sanchez to provide services that positively impact the lives of youth and families. Today our creative and diverse staff of over 1000 employees operate juvenile justice and family wraparound programs, safe shelters for immigrant children, alternative schools, youth empowerment and fatherhood programs, job creation initiatives, and child care brokerage services across seven states.

In 2002 Southwest Key started a new initiative with the intent of more significantly impacting the lives of youth and families by investing in a community that has been historically underserved. As Southwest Key celebrated our 20th Anniversary we completed construction on a 30,000 square foot campus located in the heart of the Govalle/Johnston Terrace community in Austin, Texas. The East Austin Community Development Project has become a beautiful multi-use public facility that is home to the Southwest Key Boys & Girls Club, Café del Sol, AMD Community Technology Center, outdoor amphitheater, Southwest Key Maintenance, and a variety of free educational, arts, and workforce development activities. In addition, it is home to our entire national headquarters and has become a launching point for various community development initiatives focusing on job creation, quality education, and community empowerment.
