Bilingual Theater Workshop and Demo at Southwest Key
Southwest Key is hosting the last free Bilingual Theater Workshop & Demonstration of the year on Saturday, November 8 from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about the history of the art form from instructor Luis Ordaz of Proyecto Teatro.
Luis and his team of students will provide a live, interactive demonstration of the art form. People of all ages and skill levels are invited to attend this workshop to find out how to get involved as a mentor, volunteer, performer, or participant in Southwest Key’s Latino Cultural Arts Program sponsored by Impact Austin.

Volunteer Computer
Instructors Needed
Southwest Key is looking for:
Basic Computer Literacy Instructors
Computer Workshop Instructors
Childcare Volunteers
(for parents enrolled in courses)
Southwest Key is looking for volunteers to help teach basic computer literacy skills and computer workshops to adults in the East Austin community. A childcare volunteer is also needed. Workshop subjects vary. Courses will be in the evenings with a small student-teacher ratio. English and Spanish language volunteers are needed, courses will be offered in both languages. We will work with volunteers to best meet their schedule.
- Spanish Classes meet Mondays & Wednesdays 6pm-8pm
- English Classes meet Tuesdays & Thursdays 6pm-8pm
- Workshops will be held one week per month (about four days per month) *Dates and times can be adjusted
All courses will be held at Southwest Key's AMD computer lab 6002 Jain Lane. Sessions: November 3-20 and December 1-18

- Ballet Folklorico Class:

- Bilingual Theater Class: Mondays, Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm
For youth ages 6 to 17 (other ages permitted with instructor approval). This program is made possible by a generous grant from Impact Austin.

Join Southwest Key Programs in a campaign to empower
East Austin
residents to vote in the November 4th elections. Southwest Key hopes that increased voter turnout will help the community advocate for quality of life improvements.
If you are interested in block walking, phone banking, staffing an informational booth, or helping out in any other way in preparation for the November election, please contact Daniel Llanes, 512.431.9665. Bilingual volunteers are particularly needed. This program is sponsored by the National Council of La Raza and Southwest Key Programs.
